Description: Arlington house was the home of Robert E Lee and his family for 30 years. The house was build by George Washington Parke Curtis as a memorial to his grandfather. The house is located within the Arlington National Cemetery grounds.

Description: The Claude Moore Colonial Farm is located in northern Virginia and is an authentically recreated pre-Revolutionary War farm. The park offers visitors a look at reenactors living the colonial farm life. This farm family lives the life, and they love any help with daily chores that visitors are willing to provide.

Description: This National Military Park marks the bloodiest ground on North American soil. More than 85,000 soldiers were wounded and 15,000 killed as our Nation fought for its freedom on these four historic battlefields. The park offers looks into colonial structures at the various park locations, exhibits detailing the battles, and depending on when you make the trip you might even see some reenactors.

Description: The park is open year round, but expect icy conditions in the winter months. Great Falls is an amazing site where the Potomac River speeds up and drops over Mather Gorge creating an amazing set of rocky falls.

Description: This site was selected by Lady Bird Johnson as a memorial grove. The grove is a popular spot for picnics and gathering as it has beautiful views of the Potomac and the DC monuments.

Description: Cherry Hill offers full service and tent camping with bath houses, laundry, WiFi, cable, mini-golf, playground, arcade, lounge, hot tub, sauna, pool, nature trail, and all within a short distance from the local DC, Maryland, and Baltimore attractions.

Description: Pohick Bay Regional Park offers a family style campground with 150 sites, 50 of which are set up for just tent camping. All sites include grill, fire ring, and picnic table. There is a camp store on site, as well as bathhouses, laundry, and a short path that walks to the waterfront, mini-gold, and outdoor pool.

Description: The Robert McDonell Campground offers walk-in primitive sites that are available year round, but the park has no running water between November and March. Sites include two picnic tables, grill, and fire pit.

Description: Rappahannock River campgrounds provide canoe trip access to their campgrounds. They offer trips with varying levels of difficulty (Class I and II rapids), as well as varying length, sites to see, and activities along the routes. The campgrounds are all primitive and accessible only by boat.

Description: As well as their spacious RV sites, Capitol KOA offers tent camping sites, and rental cabins and lodges. The campgrounds offer lots of activities on site, such as horseshoes, billiards, WiFi, pool, ping pong, GIANT checkers/chess set, outdoor movies, nature trails, and group activities. If you want to venture back into DC to see the sites, its a short trip.
